This Kitchen made by ViennaWoodworks.com is made from weathered gray barn wood that is from barns taken down within fifty miles of our shop.  The wood is 80 to 100 years old.  At Vienna Woodworks we do not use wood that is not at least this old.  If you were to order a sample of any of our barn wood from us, you would notice right away that it has an antique patina, and there will be no question that this wood is very old!  We can not speak for other companies, so I will not.  Recently we have had a few phone calls telling us that a certain company has been telling customers that our wood is not as old as theirs.  I find this to be a very poor sales tactic that is very transparent, as our competition does not know where we get our wood from, so there is no way they could make such a statement.  We send out a lot of samples every week, and would not be deceptive about what wood we use and its age.  We are not in business to lie to customers about other companies, and as much as I dislike situations like these, as I find them to be completely unprofessional, unfortunately once in a while we have to address those who will say anything just to make a sale.

I must also speak about price point.  Company A may try to point out that Company B is priced lower because they have lower quality.  This is not true in our case.  We price our products at a fair price point because we are the manufacturer, and Company A is not the manufacturer, therefore, they have to mark up the product that someone else built and sold them in order to make a profit.  The math here is simple, and the quality of our furniture is just as good, if not better than most builders out there.  The price is an added bonus, and when you purchase directly from us, the builders, you are getting a great value! Again, any claims about our furniture made by another company are without any merit what so ever, because they have not ever been to our furniture shop, in our lumber yard, or been given the opportunity to examine our products.  I would respond back by asking them on what basis they are making these claims.

Luckily this doesn't happen often but there have been customers who have called and ordered from us, and while we spoke to them they mentioned that they thought this bad mouthing by Company A was ridiculous and unprofessional, and said that they did not want to buy from a company that did business this way.  We were grateful that those customers were able to determine that this reflects badly on the company making such bold and unethical statements!

I think that it shows a true lack of ethics to make false claims about something that you know little to nothing about. We appreciate our customers who enjoy working with an honest and ethical company that makes beautiful solid wood furniture from real, authentic 80-100 year old barnwood, and charges a fair price - while doing so without having to bad mouth someone else.  At Vienna Woodworks, that is what you will get.  We don't use high pressure tactics because we feel that you will find what you are looking for by speaking with us and viewing our products in the webstore.  Some people even come out to our shop, and many come a long distance!  We truly appreciate working with people who are on the same page as we are! Vienna Woodworks at the Lake Home & Cabin Show 2012

We had a great turn out this weekend at the Lake Home & Cabin Show.  It was extremely crowded and we spoke to many people who enjoy rustic furniture and barn wood furniture as much as we do!  We even sold several pieces that we brought to the show, and took orders for quite a few pieces.  Here are a few photos of our booth.  We already have plans for expanding next year!

See us this weekend at the Lake Home & Cabin Show in Minneapolis!

We will have some samples of our work available on display this weekend at the Lake Home & Cabin Show in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Chris and Ryan will be working the booth for most of the weekend starting on Friday February 10,at 2pm.  They will be showing off some new products that Chris has designed and built along with a few of our other signature pieces.  (A few years ago this is how we started our reclaimed barn wood furniture line, and it really caught on, not only with the customers but also with a lot of other builders we noticed!)

The show goes Friday night until 8pm!  Saturday morning we will be back at 10am until six and Sunday again at 10am until 4pm.  It looks like it is going to be a big show this year, there will be lots on display to see!  If you are looking to build a lake home or cottage, or buy rustic furniture, rugs, bedding, and other rustic items to decorate with, this is the show to be at!  Everything is here all in one place to see up close and personal!

Heritage Barn Wood table

Our Newest Barn Wood Piece The Barn Wood Heritage Table is made from all authentic barn wood claimed from ancient barns in the Midwest near our Waseca, Minnesota wood shop.  We made this piece upon the request of a customer who was referred to us by his brother, who had purchased several pieces of barn wood furniture from us last year.  We were happy to custom make a new style of barn wood table that is a lot like our other barn wood tables, but with a few different details.  This table has bread board ends and features a trestle base that is a well known, vintage style from the past.  We put our own spin on it and were happy to have the opportunity! Our reclaimed barn wood baby crib  functions as three pieces of furniture in one.  The crib easily converts to a standard sized toddler bed and a full size bed.  Everything needed to convert the barn wood crib is included.  This piece meets all safety requirements, and is finished with a low voc furniture grade finish.  The wood is cleaned and sanded to ensure your child's safety.
