Reclaiming a part of the past
We are in the process of taking down this barn in Waseca, MN, which was built in 1919. The roof is leaking, and the structure is compromised, so rather than let this piece of history deteriorate any further, we are taking it down piece by piece in order to save the beautiful old wood. This wood will be stored in our storage facility so that we can use it to continue building the many different pieces of furniture that we have been creating in our shop.
Last week while we were taking off the shingles, a man stopped by and told us that he would like us to take his old barn down before winter. It's pretty exciting to be able to have such local access to this beautiful wood. Although it is a lot of work, it is time well spent!
Our collection of barn wood furniture is growing every week, and will hopefully continue to grow based on the many requests for custom orders that we receive. We have done several barnwood kitchen cabinet projects this summer, and have also been working on a few reclaimed wood flooring projects in addition to the other rustic furniture that we are currently building.
More pictures and updates will be added as our project progresses!
