Reclaimed Barnwood

Reclaiming a part of the past
We are in the process of taking down this barn in Waseca, MN, which was built in 1919. The roof is leaking, and the structure is compromised, so rather than let this piece of history deteriorate any further, we are taking it down piece by piece in order to save the beautiful old wood.

This wood will be stored in our storage facility so that we can use it to continue building the many different pieces of furniture that we have been creating in our shop.
Last week while we were taking off the shingles, a man stopped by and told us that he would like us to take his old barn down before winter. It's pretty exciting to be able to have such local access to this beautiful wood. Although it is a lot of work, it is time well spent!

Our collection of barn wood furniture is growing every week, and will hopefully continue to grow based on the many requests for custom orders that we receive. We have done several barnwood kitchen cabinet projects this summer, and have also been working on a few reclaimed wood flooring projects in addition to the other rustic furniture that we are currently building.

More pictures and updates will be added as our project progresses!

Barnwood Furniture

Barnwood Arched KeyStone Bed & Barnwood NightStand
Our latest pieces, created by furniture builder Christopher Wiener are shown below. See them at the Minneapolis Lake Home and Cabin Show this weekend, April 11-13 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. http://www.lakehomeandcabinshow.com/minn/index.php

Chris used authentic 100 year old barnwood salvaged from barns that were demolished in the state of Minnesota.
His hand made furniture is crafted with care, dedication and expertise using a piece of history - reclaimed wood from barns that have stood for a century and have become part of the rich history of our land.
Now, as furniture, the heritage of these barns lives on as furnishings that will grace the homes of those who appreciate the beauty of the wood that our ancestors once depended on for their livelihoods. Bringing these boards back to life is extremely rewarding for Chris as he works in the shop to create more unique pieces on a daily basis.
His craftsmanship is shown in these pictures. If you want to see his work up close and in person, come to the Lake Home and Cabin Show this weekend, or call Vienna Woodworks Rustic Furniture Company at 888-625-7570 to set up an appointment.
