This Kitchen made by ViennaWoodworks.com is made from weathered gray barn wood that is from barns taken down within fifty miles of our shop. The wood is 80 to 100 years old. At Vienna Woodworks we do not use wood that is not at least this old. If you were to order a sample of any of our barn wood from us, you would notice right away that it has an antique patina, and there will be no question that this wood is very old! We can not speak for other companies, so I will not. Recently we have had a few phone calls telling us that a certain company has been telling customers that our wood is not as old as theirs. I find this to be a very poor sales tactic that is very transparent, as our competition does not know where we get our wood from, so there is no way they could make such a statement. We send out a lot of samples every week, and would not be deceptive about what wood we use and its age. We are not in business to lie to customers about other companies, and as much as I dislike situations like these, as I find them to be
completely unprofessional, unfortunately once in a while we have to address those who will say anything just to make a sale.
I must also speak about price point. Company A may try to point out that Company B is priced lower because they have lower quality. This is not true in our case. We price our products at a fair price point because we are the manufacturer, and Company A is not the manufacturer, therefore, they have to mark up the product that someone else built and sold them in order to make a profit. The math here is simple, and the quality of our furniture is just as good, if not better than most builders out there. The price is an added bonus, and when you purchase directly from us, the builders, you are getting a great value! Again, any claims about our furniture made by another company are without any merit what so ever, because they have not ever been to our furniture shop, in our lumber yard, or been given the opportunity to examine our products. I would respond back by asking them on what basis they are making these claims.
Luckily this doesn't happen often but there have been customers who have called and ordered from us, and while we spoke to them they mentioned that they thought this bad mouthing by Company A was ridiculous and unprofessional, and said that they did not want to buy from a company that did business this way. We were grateful that those customers were able to determine that this reflects badly on the company making such bold and unethical statements!
I think that it shows a true lack of ethics to make false claims about something that you know little to nothing about. We appreciate our customers who enjoy working with an honest and ethical company that makes beautiful solid wood furniture from real, authentic 80-100 year old barnwood, and charges a fair price - while doing so without having to bad mouth someone else. At Vienna Woodworks, that is what you will get.
